We stayed in our RV at the Harpers Ferry Campground and walked the 1.3 miles into town each day through the trail. It was shady and absolutely gorgeous. The breathtaking views from the Maryland Heights trail provide a stunning panorama of the town and the rivers below, making it a favorite among photographers and nature lovers alike.

In addition to its historical and recreational offerings, Harpers Ferry boasts a vibrant community with a rich cultural scene. The town hosts various events throughout the year, including historical reenactments, arts and crafts fairs, and music festivals that celebrate its unique heritage. Local shops and restaurants line the streets, offering visitors a taste of West Virginian hospitality and cuisine. Battle Grounds Bakery and Coffee was our favorite spot for breakfast, coffee and latte's. They bake their own bread daily and also have gluten free options. They offer indoor and outdoor seating with a spectacular view of the mountains. Believe me, you DO NOT want to sit inside to dine. With views that Harpers Ferry offers, you want to enjoy outside as much as possible!

For lunch we enjoyed Issabella's Pizza and Subs - also with outdoor seating to enjoy the breathtaking views. Gluten free options as well.

For dinner we ate at The Rabbit Hole - a very trendy spot offering locally grown food, vegan and gluten free options. Outdoor and indoor seating with incredible views of those mountains! The entire town is dog friendly along with all the shops and eateries. Our dogs went every where with us and were welcome by the owners and locals.
