Welcome to our kitchen basics crash course, where we're dishing out the essential ingredients for culinary success with a side of friendly guidance! Whether you're a newbie to the world of cooking or looking to brush up on your kitchen skills, you've come to the right place. Get ready to roll up your sleeves, sharpen your knives, and embark on a culinary journey.
First things first, let's talk about kitchen tools. Every chef needs a trusty arsenal of utensils to conquer any culinary challenge. Start with the essentials: a good set of knives, cutting boards, mixing bowls, measuring cups and spoons, and pots and pans. With these basic tools in hand, you'll be well-equipped to tackle any recipe that comes your way. Among my many years of cooking, I have made my way through lots of utensils. One of my favorite kitchen brands is Pampered Chef. They have everything from measuring spoons and bowls, to stones for cooking flawless pizzas and everything in between. For my pots and pans I use cast iron Le Creuset. Cast iron cookware keeps about 99% of toxins from escaping and entering the food during the cooking process. It's the safest and cleanest way to cook.
A vital appliance that all kitchens need is a quality mixer. My KitchenAid mixer has been mixing strong for 25 years. It was given to us as a wedding gift and still to this day, it is my favorite gift we received.
Now, let's dive into the pantry. Stocking your pantry with staple ingredients is foundational for a delicious meal. Start with basics like coconut oil, salt, pepper, and a variety of herbs and spices to add flavor to your dishes. Don't forget about grains like rice, pasta, and quinoa, as well as canned goods like beans, tomatoes, and broth. Having a well-stocked pantry ensures that you'll always have the building blocks for a tasty meal on hand, even when you're short on time or inspiration. So take stock of your pantry essentials and get ready to whip up some kitchen magic! If at all possible choose organic. I know that doesn't fit in everyone's budget, so start with fruits and veggies at a minimum. If your schedule doesn't allow you to make weekly trips to the grocery store, consider Thrive Market, a grocery delivery service right to your front door. Thrive Market specializes in 'hard to find' gluten free, allergy and organic items. For good, quality, USA born and raised meat, I highly recommend Good Ranchers Meat Delivery. No MSG. No Toxins. No Antibiotics, ever.
Considering planning weekly menusalong with the corresponding grocery list. Some folks do monthly meal plans and that's great, but for newbies I would start with weekly to avoid being overwhelmed.
