Spring Cleaning 101

Ah, the arrival of spring! With its gentle breezes and blossoming flowers, it brings a sense of renewal and rejuvenation that permeates everything around us. And what better way to honor this season of growth and transformation than by diving into the time-honored tradition of spring cleaning? But before you start feeling overwhelmed by the thought of deep-cleaning every nook and cranny of your home, take a moment to reframe your mindset. Spring cleaning isn't just a chore—it's an opportunity to refresh your living space, declutter your mind, and set the stage for a season filled with positivity and possibility.

Spring Cleaning 101

Approach spring cleaning with a sense of enthusiasm and curiosity, viewing each task as a chance to reconnect with your surroundings and create a home that truly reflects your values and priorities. Start by making a plan of attack, breaking down your cleaning goals into manageable tasks that you can tackle one at a time. Whether you're scrubbing floors, organizing closets, or dusting forgotten corners, approach each task with intention and mindfulness, infusing your efforts with a sense of purpose and gratitude for the space you inhabit.

Spring Cleaning Tips:

  1. Create a Checklist: Make a detailed checklist of tasks you want to accomplish during your spring cleaning session. This will help you stay organized and focused, ensuring that you don't overlook any areas that need attention. Cross off each task as you complete it to track your progress and stay motivated. We've created a Weekly Cleaning and Spring Cleaning Combo Tracker to help you get started and stay focused!

  2. Gather the Right Supplies: Before you begin cleaning, gather all the necessary supplies and equipment to avoid interruptions. Stock up on cleaning products, microfiber cloths, sponges, brushes, and any other tools you may need. Having everything on hand will streamline the process and make your spring cleaning efforts more efficient. Here's a brief list of my favorite cleaning products and supplies:

  • Branch Basics : The Concentrate - all purpose cleaner. Literally cleans everything: shower, toilets, oven, stove, counters, floors, everything. Highly concentrated so it lasts 'forever'. The non toxic formula is plant and mineral based so it's safe and 'clean'. Use this link and get $10 off your order.

  • Young Living Thieves Household Cleaner - also highly concentrated so it lasts 'forever'. Non toxic, essential oil formulated so it's safe and 'clean' . I primarily use this on my kitchen counter tops, but is multi-purposed and can be used anywhere. I also put "cleaning oils/ purification oils" in a diffuser and run it all day /night. It cleans the air and kills allergens and germs that may be brewing. Some of my favorite oils to diffuse include: lemon, grapefruit, orange, lavender, Thieves and vanilla. Use this link with code SHAREYL and get 10% off your first order. If you've never used essential oils and have no idea how to begin, I highly recommend The Essential Life. This book will take you through all the oils and how to use them based on specific health concerns. It's an incredible resource!

  • Scrub Daddy / Scrub Mommy Non -Scratch Cleaning Sponges: These sponges are not only adorable but are highly effective in cleaning tough, stubborn, stuck on grime. They are very durable and last a long time. Plus my daughter thinks it's fun to clean with these cute little sponges so she has stepped up to clean dishes for me - WIN!

  • Bona Floor System: This floor sweeping and mopping microfiber system is great! You can use it with the Bona Hardwood Floor Cleaner or use the 'cleaner' alternatives listed above.

  • Dyson Vacuum: The Dyson Slim is by far my favorite version of the Dyson vacuum. It's sleek design makes maneuvering it between tight spaces very easy. They are known for their powerful suction, versatility (hand and floor vacuum with several attachments) and hypoallergenic grading.

Spring Cleaning can be a family affair. Get the kids involved. Grab our Chore Chart, print it out and hang it on the fridge. We all thrive on crossing things off those lists!

Remember, spring cleaning isn't just about purging physical clutter—it's also an opportunity to declutter your mind and create space for mental clarity and emotional well-being. As you sort through your belongings, take time to reflect on what truly brings you joy and fulfillment, letting go of anything that no longer serves you. And don't forget to take breaks along the way to nourish your body and soul, whether it's with a leisurely walk in nature, a soothing cup of coffee/tea  or a moment of quiet reflection. So embrace the spirit of spring cleaning with open arms and let the transformative power of this season guide you toward a home and a life filled with warmth, light, and joy. Until next time ........
